If you can follow these simple rules and guidelines, it will help keep the Mueller Center a fun and enjoyable facility for all its users.

GUEST POLICY

In conjunction with the guest policy established during the 1999-2000 academic year, the Mueller Center allows Rensselaer students, faculty and staff to bring guests with them to the facility at any given time.

  • STUDENTS: May bring three (3) free guests per semester. After three (3), there is a $3 charge per guest per day.

  • FACULTY & STAFF: May bring three (3) free guests per semester. After three (3) guests, there is a $5 charge per guest per day.

What to do when you are bringing a guest?

Personal Fitness Training & Educational Sessions

Are you looking to start an exercise program but aren't sure how to do it or even where to start? Well, put aside your worries because we can help!

Our staff is committed to giving each individual the knowledge and confidence necessary to begin the path to a healthier lifestyle through proper exercise.

Come in and enjoy one-on-one fitness training sessions with a member of the Mueller Center staff.

We can show you the proper ways to use the equipment as well as suggest a specific program for you to follow that would target your needs.

Your session will include a fitness evaluation, nutritional guide, and an introduction to our Paramount and Cybex fitness equipment.

To register for one of our individual sessions, you must fill out up a Fitness Assessment packet from the front reception desk located here in the Mueller Center, or print out the forms and fill them out beforehand:

(Currently, we only have two certified trainers, Jon Rowan and Amanda Pollack. Both are swamped with working with the athletic teams and aren't available to do any other training session. We also have two staff members who are in the process of getting their NESTA certification, hopefully by the end of Nov. '06.)

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Assistant Strength Coach, Amanda Pollock at (518) 276-2813 or email Polloa@rpi.edu.

    Rensselaer Intramural Sports

Rensselaer Intramural sports offers Rensselaer students, faculty and staff the opportunity to participate in a number of different organized sports at their own skill level. It's also a great way to get involved and interact with the Rensselaer community and meet new people.

We offer various leagues to accommodate different levels of competition. Teams may choose which league they want to participate based on the overall skill level of the team. Leagues are selected by the team captain and submitted on the Roster forms used to register a team.

If you do not have enough people to start a team, you can sign up as a Free Agent and possibly be drafted onto a team. Free Agency does not guarantee a place on a team; however, it is a good place to start if you want to get involved with a sport.

Another program offered is the Intrafraternity Council League (IFC). This provides the fraternities and sororities the opportunity to compete in various sporting events, earning their House points toward the Barker trophy. At the end of the year, the House with the most points will be declared the winner and recipient of the Barker Trophy.

Roster due dates and other important information can be found on the intramural website, as well as the IM Bulletin board in the Mueller Center. If you have any other questions regarding intramural sports, feel free to contact Joe Campo at campoj@rpi.edu

Club Sports: Interested in trying a new sport or continuing in an old favorite?

Through the student activity fee, the Rensselaer Union provides funding and support for more than 130 student clubs. Of those, over 30 are dedicated to various sports ranging from cheerleading to Rugby.

Through participating in the various club sports, the Rensselaer Union offers students a great way to stay active and become part of a team either recreationally or competitively. The Union publishes a Club Directory listing which provides a description for each club being offered which is now available, or check the Union web site. Additionally, the student run Executive Board holds an Activity Fair, giving all the various clubs an opportunity to provide information on their activities to the student body.

If you have any questions or are interested in starting a new club sport, contact Steven Allard, the Club Sport Advisor, at allars@rpi.edu.
