With a regular curl, you hold the weights with
your palms up. With hammer curls, you hold
the dumbells with your palms vertical, in other
words, as if you were grasping a hammer. With
reverse curls, you hold the weights with your
palms down. With Zottman curls, you twist
the dumbbells at the top.
Dumbbell Curls.
Keep your elbows close to your body. At the
top of the movement, twist your wrists so the
pinkie end of your hand is nearer your face.
(In other words, rotate the right hand
counterclockwise and the left hand clockwise.)
And a couple of video clips (unnarrated and unedited, but still video despite
the fact we can't rotate the image).
[Video of
how NOT to do it. (Mike demonstrates with one hand how NOT to toss
the weight up using your shoulders. It is okay to do these one
dumbbell at a time.)]
(Mike is one of the workstudies at the
Railroad. He
was unexpectedly dragged over to the Mueller to take these photos - Open-top
sandals and shorts like that are not normally allowed.)
